Terms of Business

1. Who we are
Sea Champions Assurance Limited is an insurance intermediary registered in England & Wales, company number OC310549, with its registered office at 1 King William Street, London EC4N 7AF. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, Firm Reference Number S97H790. You can check this on the FCA Register.
2. Our service
We act as an insurance intermediary, arranging cover on your behalf from a panel of insurers rather than the whole of the market. Depending on the product, we may provide a personal recommendation ("advised sale") or present options for you to choose from without a recommendation ("non-advised sale") — we will make clear which applies before you buy.
3. How we are paid
We typically receive commission from the insurer once a policy is arranged, calculated as a percentage of the premium. In some cases we may also charge a separate arrangement fee, which will always be disclosed to you in writing before you are committed to any contract. You can ask us at any time for details of the commission we receive on a particular policy.
4. Client money
Where we handle premium payments on behalf of insurers, client money is held in accordance with the FCA's Client Assets sourcebook (CASS) in a designated client bank account, separate from our own business funds.
5. Your right to cancel
For most personal lines policies, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the later of the start of the policy or the day you receive your policy documents, during which you can cancel for a full refund provided no claim has been made. Cancellation rights outside this period, and any applicable charges, are set out in your policy documentation.
6. Making a claim
Claims are handled by the underwriting insurer, not by us directly. We will help you notify a claim and can liaise with the insurer on your behalf, but the insurer is responsible for assessing and paying valid claims in line with your policy terms.
7. Duty of fair presentation
When you apply for cover, you must take reasonable care to answer all questions honestly and to the best of your knowledge. Failing to disclose relevant information could result in a claim being declined or a policy being cancelled.
8. Complaints
If anything goes wrong, please see our Complaints Procedure for how to raise it and what happens next, including your right to refer unresolved complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
9. Data protection
Details of how we collect, use and protect your personal data are set out in our Privacy & Cookie Policy.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time; continuing to use our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
